i wonder what the phrase - "with great power, comes great responsibility." really means.

heres what happened. i'm the guy who do all the video editing and most of the filming for jam videos and people showreels and such other nonsense. first thing first, those stuffs aren't easy, kinda like when you wanna do your own thing, then i have to get the camera out and film. its distracting for sure. editing isn't an easier task at all, even harder actually, and still needing to settle everything down, deleting files for space on my harddrive the put the huge hd video files into my sucky computer, and of course the choosing of music and then the editing itself. definitely not easy, but yeah i won't say its the most difficult shit of all - anyone can do it. my standard is not so professional yet, although i would think its better than average (im not bragging, just a say).

surely i like video editing and filming, obviously. no probelm making a video and filming a video. but imagine going for an editing spree and all, making like 5 videos in a space of 2 - 3 weeks, and constantly being questioned and bugged of when videos will be finished, being expected of so much, people rushing you to make the video not only fast, but nice. sometimes people aren't even happy with the product even though i've did put in my effort. even your own work is being affected. and of course when you say you can't finish on time, people will go saying that you are being lazy and all the cocks. this is not it, more to come. people still want you to go film every time you go out with them, constantly getting clips, constantly expecting the best of filming angles or shots, best of editing display. worse still, when i say im tired, tired of making videos, filming all the time, and wanted a break, insults and scoldings come into play, people accusing you of being lazy, saying "its your job, so don't nag".

i fucking dont mind helping people making video (even if it is free of charge), and i try my best to make the video nice (definitely not the nicest, because that will take alot of effort, jam videos does not need to best of editing). when it comes to showreel of course i will try to make it awesome, but only to the point where my capabilities limits me to. whats more, i do it willingly, sometimes by means of repaying my friend for whatever he has done to me. i admit once i charged people for videos but come on, one thing its not easy to travel places to places filming stuffs, then still the whole editing and everything, surely its an acceptable charge. but of course people don't like the thought of that, thinking im money faced, thinking that i do it for money, taking advantage of my 'so-called skills'.

i like editing and filming, but still, people expect so much of me, thinking its my duty.

what am i, superhuman? im not sure whether i've actually gained the respect of them in the end, seeing that i'm still being pestered each time a video was expected to be released. what if i were to reverse the scenario, you guys do the editing, the filming. i won't say the stage ive came to is nowhere unattainable by any of you guys, but whatever, try to get a video up to my standard of editing. until then, try not to talk so much crap. think about being fucking taken advantaged of, try to think it in my position. actually to be honest, i can really just forget about filming or editing any videos, and heck care about the 'task im supposed to do'. go get your own hd cam and make a video for yourself. how about that.

to be serious, i do editing and filming as and when i please, and to help people if i feel like it (depends on the individual itself). incidents of such cases happening is the bishan newcomers jam video, i know everone is fucking disappointed because of ME not doing the filming on that day. that day i dont have the stupid mood to film, and i wanted to do stuffs too.

all i ask for is a little more respect in my decision whether to film on that day or not, and some appreciation for the videos i've made for the guys. that's, all.

please dont think this post is a rant targetted to anyone, or a NAG as someone might call it.
