if there's one emotion that i'd consider the most important of all in human beings, it'd be guilt.
it's that one emotion that generally controls all things in mankind:
it's how we differentiate what's right, and what's wrong.
it's how we know if we not doing enough, or are getting out of hand.
it's how we decide on something, or take a step back and go the other way.
if it's taken away from a person, god forbids what he would do to the people around him. can you imagine? no guilt, no shame. not a care in the world of how the consequences could devour him alive. rape. murder. robbery. all committed with a smile on his face. that's why the scariest people are the ones who lack a conscience.
think about it. it's always your morals that pulls you back from doing something you kinda feel you shouldn't. the thought of the repercussions of your possible oncoming actions. it's inbuilt in you, somehow, as maybe a defense mechanism of some sort. and you really have your conscience to thank.
but of course, not always does your conscience win. some people have it stronger, and some people, weaker. how would it stand with a battle against the seven deadly sins?
if there's one sin that i'd consider the worst of all in human beings, it'd be greed.
money and greed, they are almost synonymous. and as they say - money is the root of all evil. there may be fucked up things in the world like cases of rape and murder, and true enough, it very much applies in context of what i'm trying to get across, but lust and wrath can never beat greed if we think about it in a bigger scale.
everything in the world is based on money. and it's no point hiding the fact that all that we build up from young is always about how much money you'll be making in the future. it's crazy. everything can be linked to money. it's disgusting, really, to know how much some inanimate object could control your life. correction. the world.
and it's really what makes us think twice about doing the things we should and shouldn't. how we decide if we let greed overwhelm us, or guilt controlling us, so to speak.
how we betray someone, to get something back in return.
how we steal something instead of buying it, because it saves you money.
how we are never satisfied with what we already have, and keep going for more.
but guilt lies deep and heavy in your heart, haunting you on your sleepless nights, hoping that you'll repent.
or is greed laughing victoriously, now with it's newly gained experience, thinking that if you have done it before, you can always do it again...
