Day 11:
So it's second day of school and it's the longest day of them all - 7hours straight lessons and no lunch break. Assignments got real (got homework to do already...), spoke to some new classmates and found out how everyone already gotten their groups for the final year projects, and I'm just here like... fuck. Time passed relatively fast still and before you know it, I'm back home... lol. So I met up with Sam and grabbed my queen bed and also his fridge. Which meant that I have a fully functioning bedroom as POWER IS FINALLY ON!!! (no wifi tho). Did our first massive grocery shopping and bedsheets shopping, pushed our carts back to the house again... and filled up the fridge and got myself a new bed! Awesome. Not forgetting mushroom soup and toasted sandwiches for supper! #Stoked
Day 12:
Early day again, 830 classes, but I only got one class so I can be home by 12! That's exactly what I did (more homework to do tho...), and ate our first actual lunch cooked by Hatta. Tortilla wraps are going to be my staple food from now on. So good, so easy to make too!
Also decided to be productive and do some editing today, now that I have a house and can use my laptop in my room. Editing doesn't require wifi so I guess that's less distractions? Haha.
I decided to be even more productive and film a short backyard tricking video. So I went out with my tripod and camera to do some proper tricking session. Brushed up basics and got myself some new combos... I was fucked by the end of the session. It was HOT as well... Melbourne honestly has crazy bipolar weather problemsss...
Sam came over to chill (you know what that means), so I started to show him the edits I've done so far. Hatta came back just in time to whip up some Chinese dinner (Rice with chicken and omelette and shit lol), and we got the projector set up to watch Space Jam! It was pretty dope, while high... I fell asleep tho cos I was too faded/tired.
Day 13:
Woke up to finish up what I slept through of Space Jam.
Cooked more wraps.
Lazed a little bit more, but I finished some of the edits before heading out to Kmart to spend even more money on household shit... sigh.
Hatta went out to party with his friend, so I decided to be productive (again), so I went out to send resumes. And guess what? I got myself a job at this Thai restaurant. Just a tryout tho. Let's see what happens...
Day 14:
Done editing my new video which I have no idea what to call... but it's basically some leftover clips of Singapore compiled into a RAW-ish video. I think it's not too shabby... but I can't upload it cos NO WIFI...
and while we did some cleaning up in the house with our new vacuums, I also thought that I should actually learn how to cook a little... So I chopped food up that I found in the fridge and threw it into a pan, not sure what to expect. Apparently it is still a meal and it was pretty damn edible so well done CP, here's a pat on the shoulder.
Then a funny thing happened as I made my way to the library... skated down a hill and before turning I got off my board while letting it roll down the road... WHO KNEW it would fit through this tiny gap of a drain cover and not be retrievable anymore?!?! Didn't want yet another board to lose it's existence again (it's either losing it... which almost happened twice HERE (left it once in subway, and then another in a supermarket (not even talking about the one I lost in Malaysia)) or shit like this will happen). A resident came over and told me to head over to the council and see if they can help... how lucky is it that I'm staying just 2 minutes away from the city council? So I tried my luck, and guess what... it just took them 30mins for them to deliver my down-in-the-sewers penny board to my doorstep... Shit, this will never happen in Singapore.
So yeah I did some progress on my assignments with the slow ass Wifi in the library... still have some work to do but I spent too much time over that stupid board and it's about time to go to work...
And then it rained for the first time here in Melbourne. What good timing (no umbrella, almost time for work).
Luckily the tram stop wasn't too far off and it came just in time. Got up... 3 stops later (where I'm supposed to stop), a plain-clothes tram officer came up and asked for my card. Knowing that I did not tap, I just spoke in Chinese and then ran out of the stop (thankfully the doors opened in time). Could've gotten caught but I (barely) escaped. Damn I needa be more careful. Can't afford to lose $75 to petty fines... This better be a wake-up call to be on alert.
Wow the post is pretty damn long and I'm only just getting into my first day of my 'new job'.
Didn't wanna make a bad impression by asking how much I'm getting on the first day of the job so I just took it up, seeing that I have a free Friday night and I got nothing much to lose. So I learnt the basic dishwashing, kitchen management and preparations before the crowd started pouring. Learnt some basic frying and grilling and marinating... Washed a lot of dishes when it started to pile up... But it was definitely good to be talking to nice Thai people who are pretty happy to see me and how they are so willing to help and teach. Also got to eat Thai food again and got a free takeaway meal. It was only at the end of the day when I started asking people how much they're getting paid when I was taken aback. Don't know why most Asian people just accept low paying jobs. Most asian restaurants don't pay their workers the minimum wage as the people wanna work more hours than the visa allows... but at the expense of a crazy low hourly pay-rate. Tbh, despite how fast the time passed on the job, it's still pretty hard work that they are doing... can't believe I was expecting $20/hrs...
Probably about time I source Gumtree for actual high paying jobs, although it might mean I'll be giving up learning how to cook Thai food and their culture as a part-time job... Money talks. Maybe I'll be a Dom and throw garbage for $32/hrs. Why not right?
Yeah pretty eventful Friday. Looking forward to the weekend! (you know what that means)
