Day 113:
2 more days of 8 hours worth of Deliveroo shifts to go.
Have been working so much lately and always trying to find ways to make it interesting. Few of those ways are squeezing in gymming, parkour training, making videos, chilling, exploring new parks and playgrounds to train, all during the sporadic gaps I have between orders. Definitely helps me to enjoy work more despite having work filling up practically the whole of my schedule here.
Definitely feeling the fatigue both physically and mentally from cycling averagely 265km a week, clocking so many hours and working 27 out of 32 days. Only had 2 Saturdays off, a two day weekend off from camping, and one Thursday off for training (which I ended up getting injured).
However, seems like the payslip I'm receiving tomorrow for the work I've done for the past two weeks will exceed a little of $1.5k. That's wayyy more than army pays me in just 12 out of 14 days of work. Given the freedom of this job compared to NS, I can definitely get used to this.
I will also earn, by the end of Wed, slightly more than $3k, which definitely helps a whole lot with getting my bank balance back to where it was when I first set up ($4k+). Feels so good to have constant income coming in. Now the goal is to reach that coveted $10000. When I'm back in July, and when school ends in Nov, and when I finish my final months of my visa (Jan - Mar), I'm gonna work so hard and earn alllll the money to fund my travels for next year.
Today... was one of the toughest day of work. How tough can Deliveroo get? The worst I can think of is getting constant orders far out of the way and tackling uphills and getting wrecked from all the leg work. Even then, it wouldn't be that bad as I don't consider cycling to be thatttt intense. But today, I had to adapt to cycling with one leg as the other dangles helplessly due to its inability to bend. Yeap, hurt my knee out of nowhere undeservedly and it turned out to be pretty bad. Luckily I'm sure it's the muscle that got swollen, so I'm hoping and praying that this will heal up soon enough and I can enjoy Jump Off to the fullest.
Injuries are definitely the worst part of life. It's cost you so much. Less time to train, less time to make the videos you want to make, I can't gym, and today I almost couldn't continue work. Which would've costed me the opportunity to earn around $80 more.
I guess the average Joe would opt the easy way out and inform the staff that he's too injured to work. But I'm not that guy and sometimes you just gotta bite the bullet and hustle through. Turns out, I survived pretty well. The human body can really take a beating and surprise you on how well it adapts to changes.
With that said, I really need to start being more injury free. Now that I have the time, I need to cherish and make use of it to the fullest. Singapore has to be really productive in terms of doing sick runs and filming them. Just hope the weather doesn't fuck us up.
Good weather VS Injury-free VS Time. You can only pick 2. Sigh...
Alright, gotta hope the knee recovers soon enough. Work has to go on even if training and gyming has to be halted...
Counting down the days!
