Post Singapore Thoughts

My 2 1/2 weeks break from #CPMelbLyfe has come to an end as I now sit on the dreaded 8hr flight back to Melbourne, about to start the second (longer) leg of #CPMelbLyfe.

Surely if I hadn't had taken this break, I would've probably died from the monotony of the life I was living earlier, and I'm pretty certain that I couldn't have chose a better holiday route. No regrets.

Sydney was nothing short of amazing, which the reasons why was already well elaborated in my previous plane blogpost, so now I'm focusing on how Singapore, of all destinations, provided the respite I needed.

I have to say, my perspective of Singapore changed a fair bit after living in Melbourne. Oh I'm still right about Singapore being the shittiest place when it comes to the law and the closedmindedness of the society (Had to face some #SingaporeProblems yet again even in this short visit). Ultimately, I still want to find an escape from it all.

But, I've came to accept that life overseas can hardly compare to life in your own country. Training with the Melbourne folks can be fun, but definitely not as fun as the people back home, whom you can connect with the most. It is in Singapore where I prosper and have already established myself somewhere, in contrast to being nowhere in a foreign land.

I also went out hard in these two weeks with an intention to film an AOM submission video, which I failed to complete due to injuries and just not being the best of shapes, and of course the fact that two weeks was just too short. It also highlighted the flaws and weaknesses in my training, like working on my mental strength (esp. at heights and on concrete), consistency in my attempts, control in my movements, getting better on my acro game, etc. all of which I am now going to work on before I go all out next year. Already have a list of goals that I want to do for next year!

I tried to be productive in an effort to hustle for more opportunities and earning more money, but nothing really worked out except for finally being in contact with the Redbull sports director and being a part of Shine Fest itself (which apart from the meagre pay, was an amazing event altogether). LCG next year is looking to be even more promising although there's still so much that needs to be done. There is also talks about reviving Parolye (making all-star team in Singapore) and also starting the first Parkour clothing line here. Already have some video and short film ideas in my head that should definitely be worked on when I get back.

Of course, what made my trip back home so much more enjoyable was the fact that I finally spent face-to-face with my girl. She's another reason why I feel that moving back home isn't too bad of an option. So grateful to truly have someone by your side who supports you and is mutually appreciative of each other. Seems like it's really true when they say only when you stop seeking, the perfect someone will come into your life.
There's now an added responsibility in my life, but it's a responsibility that I am more than willing to bear.

Seeing each other everyday for the past two weeks was amazing and we did a bunch of random stuff that we planned on doing. I honestly feel that this relationship is much more different than my previous, feels a lot more grown up, natural, and clear... It was great to actually be with each other after putting up with two months of Skype life... Although it seens like I'm heading back to that life again now... Can't wait for December when it's her turn to visit me in Melbs!

Glad to say I ate my fair share of good food and also cooked my first legit meal in Singapore! Being able to guiltlessly eat out will be something I was always dearly miss. Especially them being soooo deliciousss! (This needed to be mentioned somewhere in this post!)

It seems that I will choose to settle down back here for a bit after the completion of the 'live in a foreign country for a year' phase of my life. And then start working towards some big hopes and dreams, and see how life goes from there. March 2017, looking forward to the next chapter of life.

For now though, I've got to focus on Semester 2 (learning about the RED camera and Editing on Premiere Pro (gotta start making videos from all the old clips lying in my hard disk)), continue hustling hard with Deliveroo and getting all the savings for my travels, continue gyming (and doing Smolov Jr. routine!), working on my parkour goals as mentioned above, start filming all the videos I planned on doing (Camberwell trainings and dive roll video!) while not forgetting to live life and explore more of Melbourne.
